How donating works

Giving takes about a minute — and it's a little bit fun.

Support My Squad turns giving into a quick scratch-to-donate moment. Every participant has their own page with a board of covered squares. You pick one, scratch to reveal a donation amount, and check out securely. Your gift goes straight toward that squad's goal.

Finding a fundraiser

You usually arrive from a link someone shared.

Donors normally land here from a fund link a participant shared by text, email, or social media. That link opens that one person's fundraiser page — for example /fund/their-link.

On their page you'll see:

  • The participant's name and photo, plus the campaign and who's organizing it.
  • Progress toward the goal, and the donation board of covered squares.
  • Recent donations and an event leaderboard.
One link = one participant. To support a whole team, ask the organizer for the campaign page, or donate on several participants' pages.

Pick a covered squareTap any available square to claim it. It locks for about 30 minutes so it's yours to scratch — unpaid squares automatically reopen after that.

The board updates live. If someone grabs a square just before you, no problem — simply pick another open one.

Receipt & confirmation

Proof of your gift, instantly.

As soon as your payment goes through you'll land on a receipt page, and — if you entered an email — you'll get an emailed receipt with your order number. Keep that number handy if you ever need help with a specific donation.

Tax receipts: whether a donation is tax-deductible depends on the organizing group. We can't give tax advice — if you need a tax receipt, check with the campaign organizer.

Is my payment secure?
Yes. Checkout is handled by Stripe, a global payments provider — your card details never touch our servers.
Can I donate more than once?
Absolutely. Scratch another square any time, or stack an additional gift at checkout.
My square didn't go through, or I didn't finish.
No worries — squares you claim but don't pay for automatically reopen after about 30 minutes, so they're free for anyone (including you) to try again.
Can I get a refund?
Reach out to support at info@supportmysquad.com with your order number and we'll help.
Where does my money go?
Funds go to the campaign organizer's verified payout account to support the squad. See Trust & Safety for how that's kept secure.

Real squads, real donors, secure money.

We're committed to keeping Support My Squad a place for genuine teams and the people who cheer them on. Here's how giving and getting paid stays safe.

  • Secure payments. All payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are never stored on our servers.
  • Account verification. Organizers must verify their email and phone before setting up payouts or withdrawing. Unverified or flagged accounts can't move money.
  • One verified destination. Every campaign's donations collect into a single, verified payout account owned by the organizer — keeping the money trail clear.
  • Active monitoring. We watch campaigns and payouts for unusual activity and may pause payouts on accounts that need review.
What a legitimate campaign looks like: it's about a real squad or cause — a team, club, school group, or youth program. Be cautious of pages that don't match that, such as unrelated products or services.

Is my payment information safe?
Yes — all checkouts are handled by Stripe and your card details never touch our servers.
Who receives the donations?
The campaign organizer's single verified payout account, which supports the squad.
Do participants get paid directly?
No. Funds collect in the organizer's account; the platform does not pay participants separately.
Can I donate to a whole team?
Give on multiple participants' fund links, or ask the organizer for the campaign page.
How do I get a receipt?
It's shown right after checkout and emailed to you if you provide an email address.
I'm an organizer — when do I get paid?
After the campaign's end date, when it's "Ready to transfer," you request the payout from your dashboard.
How do I report a suspicious campaign?
Email info@supportmysquad.com with the link and details.
